In 2014, the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act was signed into law to provide local agencies with the framework to manage groundwater basins in a sustainable manner, recognizing that groundwater is most effectively managed at the local level.
With the passage of the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in 2014, the South Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) and its Board of Directors are participating in the implementation of the SGMA regulations and working to protect the interests of groundwater users within the South Kings GSA boundary.
Please Note: Due to the COVID-19 precautions, the SKGSA Board Meeting scheduled for May 27, 2020 will be held via conference call. Call-in instructions are included in the agenda.
Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) Adopted: The South Kings GSA adopted the final Groundwater Sustainability Plan on Tuesday, December 19, 2019, and the GSP was submitted to the Department of Water Resources for the January 31, 2020 deadline.
