In 2014, the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act was signed into law to provide local agencies with the framework to manage groundwater basins in a sustainable manner, recognizing that groundwater is most effectively managed at the local level.
With the passage of the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in 2014, the South Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) and its Board of Directors are participating in the implementation of the SGMA regulations and working to protect the interests of groundwater users within the South Kings GSA boundary.
SGMA will affect everyone and we want to hear from you! Complete the Stakeholder Survey to voice your concerns and provide your valuable input for the development of the GSP.
Community Discussion on Groundwater, Monday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m.: This community discussion workshop will consist of an overview about SGMA, the state of local subbasin and a panel discussion on key chapters of groundwater sustainability plans. The meeting will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dinuba Senior Citizens Center. Download the flyer for more information.
Upcoming Board Meeting: South Kings GSA’s board meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. Please Note: The August Board meeting is scheduled for August 28, 2019 in Fowler.
Advisory Committee Application: If you are interested in an active role with the GSA, the South Kings GSA is forming an Advisory Committee. The committee will be involved in public outreach associated with the preparation and implementation of the GSP, and will be involved to incorporate the interests of all beneficial users of groundwater within the GSA boundary. Please complete the Advisory Committee Application and return it the South Kings GSA.
