In 2014, the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act was signed into law to provide local agencies with the framework to manage groundwater basins in a sustainable manner, recognizing that groundwater is most effectively managed at the local level.
With the passage of the California Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in 2014, the South Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) and its Board of Directors are participating in the implementation of the SGMA regulations and working to protect the interests of groundwater users within the South Kings GSA boundary.
South Kings GSA Groundwater Sustainability Plan: On September 3, 2019, South Kings GSA began the 90-day Public Review of the draft Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). This period will conclude with the Public Hearing on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the City of Sanger's City Hall, located at 1700 7th Street in Sanger, California. Download the GSP for review.
The South Kings GSA will consider all written comments received before and up through the public hearing from beneficial users of groundwater or local stakeholders. Written comments may be submitted by mailing to 952 Pollasky Avenue, Clovis, CA, 93612, by email or by providing oral and/or written comments at the public hearing.
Groundwater Community Presentations: Community presentations are being held throughout the South Kings GSA boundary during the 90-day public review period. Topics of discussion include: What is the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA)?; an overview of the South Kings Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP); groundwater usage and how SGMA implementation will affect you; and how you can provide comments on the South Kings GSA's GSP.
Join us for the meeting closes to you and find out how the GSP will affect the groundwater you use!
Please Note: The South Kings GSA's Board of Directors meeting has been canceled for November. The next board meeting will be held on December 18, 2019 at Parlier City Hall.
